Rhinoplasty is the most popular aesthetic surgical intervention today. Our face concerns our entire life and self-confidence closely. We have come across with our faces many time in daily life that every detail on our faces is more interesting than ever. Mirrors everywhere, smart phones, dozens of photos taken in seconds, social media shares our face, we met with our nose dozens of times during the day.

Most patients apply to us with these and similar complaints. We call them “patients” because we are “physicians”. You may think this is not a disease, but according to the medical literature, the disease includes not only physical discomfort, but also mental or psychological discomfort. We  plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery specialists work on normal body structure, functioning and aesthetics during our training.

In fact, in addition to providing functional integrity during the treatment of cancers, facial injuries and hand injuries that we frequently deal with, we try to achieve the most acceptable aesthetic results so that we can gain psychological health as well as physical health of our patient.

On this basis, if we talk about the nose in particular, the nose, which does not provide adequate air flow with its aesthetics and functioning, can seriously affect the whole life of a person. “Bad nose” that causes snoring, shortness of breath in sleep, open mouth, fatigue, can also cause a inner discomfort, restlessness and self-insecurity like not to have photos taken in work and social life.

Is every patient right in his/her “bad nose” complaint?

This is exactly where aesthetic and health education of a  plastic surgery physician took comes into the play.

Is it enough for a person to complain in order to have a  nose surgery?

Definitely not. The person who will decide such a surgical intervention is a plastic surgery physician. The plastic surgery physician cannot decide remotely. Why do I say that? Because there is this common mistake done nby the patients that they want to hear the answer of the question “I wonder if I should have surgery?” over the internet and via telephone! If you really think about yourself, use the phone or the nternet only to make an appointment with your doctor!

You can only get the most healthy answer with a face-to-face interview and examination. Your doctor can also decide whether your complaints are medically valid after the examination.

Let’s say, your doctor examined you and found you are right with your complaints, and told you that this could be corrected by surgery. So what’s next?

You decided to have a  rhinoplasty and your doctor found it appropriate for you to have surgery. Then what awaits you?

Generally, patients who do not have any health problems like significant chronic diseases such as blood pressure or diabetes, or who do not have a medical obstacle to have the surgery, usually go to the hospital a few hours before the operation and have pre-operative examinations and tests. An important point is that the patient should be hungry and dehydrated 8 hours before the operation. So don’t say “I’m going to have a nice breakfast and have cup of tea”. Because, except emergency cases, full stomach patients or patients who have eaten anything can not be operated under general anesthesia. In healthy individuals, preoperative blood, heart and lung tests will be sufficient.

The preparation of these tests takes approximately 2 hours. If there is no problem for the anesthesiologist who evaluates these tests, the patient will be taken to the operating room for the surgery. After all the patient’s preparations are reevaluated in the operating room, if everything is fine, then the patient will be taken to the operating table.

Porcelain Rhinoplasty

Porcelain Rhinoplasty is a technique developed by surgeon Dr.Baran KUL, MD. The technique that minimizes the postoperative oedema and bruises is applied without breaking the nasal bone

What is the biggest advantage of Porcelain Rhinoplasty?

Since severe bone trauma is performed in classical nose surgeries, both early swelling, bleeding and bruising complaints are almost negligible and there is no need to wait for months for recovery period. In a few weeks, almost complete recovery takes place. People who have problems in breathing and who cannot get a good quality sleep also decide to have  nose surgery because they have problems in terms of health. Anyone who turns 18 can have nose surgery. Nose surgeries almost change the life of the person and improve the quality of life.
